Considering that my splashy new blog carries the WSR name, it seemed only appropriate to spend the first post talking about Shasta 2008.
Well, it is a new site. Perhaps I should back up…
By Shasta, I am referring to Lake Shasta, CA. We’ve been taking an annual houseboat trip there for years, usually on Memorial Day weekend. This year we decided to do something different and go on a non-holiday weekend. Mostly because we are now old.
Not really of course. But if you’ve never been to Shasta on Memorial Day, picture MTV Spring Break without the celebrities and you won’t be too far off. I mean there ARE celebrities. I’m there after all and, at least within the confines of Lake Shasta, I’m about as HUGE as you get people! Trust me on this.
But you do reach a certain point where you realize that maybe partying with 10000 drunken 19 year olds who prefer cocaine and Red Bull to beer bongs isn’t really why you take the trip every year. Does that mean I’m old? Or not cool?
I will tell you this: even at 32, having 20 some odd people chanting your name to get you to go down the water slide naked is a great ego boost.
